The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – The Administration of the “Great Man-Made River” project announced today that the delay of the arrival of water to the city of Tripoli, on Tuesday, was the result of the exposure of the control room south of the city of Zliten to an attack by unknown persons resulted in a leak in the water.
“The operation and management teams accelerated the shift of water mobilization to the central route to flow water to Tripoli until the maintenance of the main route responsible for feeding the city is completed,” GMMR administration said in a statement.
The administration also confirmed in that the water flows will gradually reach Tripoli starting from today’s evening.
It is noteworthy that the GMMR system has been subjected to repeated attacks that weakened the supply of water to a number of areas, while officials appealed to the competent authorities to intervene and protect the components of the system, which is the only source of water for many cities and towns.
