Libya’s neighbors conclude their meeting in Khartoum

KHARTOUM – The ministerial meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries concluded on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord Mohamed Taher Siala, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Tunisia’s State Secretary Sabri Bash Tabji, Chief of Staff
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria Na’imoun Abdul Majeed, UN Special Representative of the Secretary General Ghassan Salamé, among other officials.

The ministers listened to a briefing by Salamé in which he affirmed that there’s only political solution to the crisis in Libya. The minister renewed their commitment to support Libya through a peaceful political transition.

The ministers also stressed the importance of paying attention to the seriousness of the situation in southern Libya and praised the efforts being made by the neighboring Libyan countries Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria in the framework of the tripartite initiative as well as the efforts of the quartet initiative between Libya, Sudan, Chad and Niger to secure the shared border with Libya.
