BENGHAZI – Al-Karama marathon launched Saturday in Benghazi, with the participation of units and personnel of the Military College and the National Libyan Army (LNA) training centers. The marathon course length was about 5 km.

The race, organized under the auspices of the General Command of LNA, was participated in by the training centers of al-Abyar, Tobruk, Tarhouna, Suluq, al-Marj and Ajdabiya.

Trainees of the 106th Battalion, the 73rd Infantry Brigade and the 155th Battalion also participated in the marathon, which started from Benghazi port close to downtown to al-Keesh Square.

Al-Karama Marathon is expected to be held annually in different Libyan cities.

The marathon is named after the operation that LNA, under the leadership of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, launched in 2014 for cleansing Benghazi and other Libyan cities and regions from radical armed groups. The word al-Karama means dignity.
