LNA Spokesman says the national conference was changed into a forum to manipulate its outcomes

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BENGHAZI – Spokesman of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), General Brigadier Ahmed al-Mismari, said in his weekly press briefing on Wednesday that the upcoming national conference, which is due in January, was changed into a national forum in order to manipulate its outcomes.

Al-Mismari said that LNA supports a national conference and “will not allow any terminological manipulation”. He also affirmed LNA’s support for elections next spring, adding that the reason LNA supports the national conference and elections is because they were set within a time frame as he warned against prolonging the Libyan crisis which he described as “very dangerous”.

He also stated that “there are those who do not want Libya to become a strong country” and affirmed that the army “is the one who protects Libya and its resources and borders.”

Al-Mismari also commented on the wave of assassinations which spreads in Tripoli and across the western region and said that “it has become troublesome.”
