GNA’s Education Minister discusses with US Ambassador how to facilitate visa procedures for Libyan students

TUNIS – Education Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Othman Abduljalil, met on Friday evening with the United States ambassador to Libya, Peter W. Bodde, in U.S. embassy headquarters in Tunisia.

According to a statement by GNA’s Education Ministry, Abduljalil said that there are hundred American universities accredited by GNA’s Ministry of Education. He also said that all efforts must intensify to allow Libyan students’ enrollment in these universities by establishing a mechanism for obtaining their American visa.

GNA’s Education Ministry added that “the embassy’s technical attaché explained that there are American educational offices operating under the supervision of the U.S. Department of State, which will organize this matter by signing an agreement with the ministry under the supervision of the embassy. Most of these offices will coordinate with the Department of Missions and Delegates’ Affairs of Ministry of Education.”

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister, Adel Jumaa, Director of the Department of Missions and Delegates’ Affairs, Mohammed Matouk, and the Secretary of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, Abdel Moneim Abulaiha.
