
The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Williams, met on Monday with chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), Ali Mahmoud Hassan Mohamed.
According to UNSMIL, Williams reiterated UN’s support for sovereign Libyan institutions and “their right to work without intimidation and interference.” Ali Mahmoud presented four initiatives going on now “as part of LIA’s stated commitment to reform and transparency.”
UNSMIL notably made no reference of Libya’s frozen funds in Belgium which were allegedly abused by LIA according to multiple media reports.
