TRIPOLI – United Kingdom’s ambassador to Libya, Frank Baker, welcomed opening of electoral registration in 68 municipalities which was announced by Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE) on Thursday.
Baker announced via Twitter that his country will provide an extra 300,000 euros to CCMCE to support local elections, thus making UK’s total contribution 1.5 million euros in two years.
Baker stated that “strong and democratic local governance is an essential part of Libya’s future.”
