BENGHAZI – General Salah Huwaidi, former chief of Benghazi security department issued a statement on Sunday in which he apologized to the people of Benghazi for the increase in crime rate in the last period.
Huwaidi wished luck to his successor Brigadier Adel Abdul Aziz whom was assigned as new chief of Benghazi security department by Interior Ministry of the Interim Government.
In his statement, Huwaidi also declined to accept his new post as chief of Suluq-Qaminis security department.
“I apologize to my people and my colleagues in the security department of Suluq-Qaminis for declining the post offered by the Minister of Interior,” he said.
Huwaidi said the reason why he did not accept the post is because the criminal investigation department in Benghazi “needs to be organized and structured.”
The Interior Ministry of the Interim Government issued a decree yesterday which reassigned several security officials, including General Salah Huwaidi.
