NCHRL calls on Security Council for investigation into Turkish shipment of weapons to Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) called on the Panel of Experts of the UN Security Council on Friday to open a comprehensive investigation into the shipment of weapons and ammunition coming from Turkey to Libya and those responsible for and who facilitated their exit through Turkish ports.

NCHRL called for an investigation with the Turkish authorities, in the size of their responsibility, and the extent to which Turkey has complied with UN Security Council’s resolution of arms embargo on Libya.

The Commission pointed out to the Turkish ship seized by the Greek authorities, which was heading to Libya loaded with raw materials for the manufacture of bombs, explosives and mines this year, as it is not the first time Turkey sent shipments that contributed to war and murder in Libya.

NCHRL renewed its warning against the consequences of continuing to breach the arms embargo imposed by the Security Council on Libya.
