Conte to visit Libya tomorrow

ROME – Italy’s Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, will arrive tomorrow in Libya to meet with the country’s leading political figures, Italian news agency Adnkronos reported.

Adnkronos said, citing Libyan sources, that Conte will first fly to Tripoli, where he will meet chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and chairman of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri.

Afterwards, Conte will reportedly go to Benghazi to meet with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA).

Earlier this month, Conte received Field Marshal Haftar at the presidential palace of Chigi in Rome on December 6th.

Later, on December 11th, Conte himself stated that he will held a meeting with Al-Sarraj and Field Marshal Haftar, however, no such meeting has taken place yet.

Conte says he’ll meet with Field Marshal Haftar and Al-Sarraj “in a week”
