On Independence Day, Benghazi municipality calls on Libyans to reject divide

BENGHAZI – On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of independence, Benghazi municipality has called on the Libyan people to preserve the unity of the country, to renounce hatred and divide, to call for tolerance and reconciliation and to disdain everything that would tear the country apart.

In its statement, the municipality pointed out to the struggle of the ancestors and the series of sacrifices and heroism that paid for by hundreds of martyrs, thanks to which the Libyans took their freedom from the colonizer and Libya gained sovereignty and independence.

The independence of Libya was declared from Benghazi on December 24, 1951.

“This independence is the greatest and most glorious event in the history of the Libyans,” the municipality of Benghazi said.
