GNA’s Foreign Ministry issues a statement on the attack on its HQs in Tripoli

TRIPOLI – The Foreign Ministry of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) issued a statement regarding this morning’s attack on its headquarters in Tripoli.

The ministry did not reveal who is responsible for the attack but said that “terrorist elements” attacked its headquarters and one of the attackers detonated himself inside building after they opened fire.

According to the ministry, “this brutal attack resulted in three martyrs and a number of wounded.”

“The Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord condemns this brutal aggression against diplomatic staff,” said the ministry before adding, “these attacks will not deter us from performing our tasks and duty to complete the process of political stability,”

“Today, we salute the security services that have dealt professionally with this attack, which reduced the number of casualties and helped control the attackers in record time. The high professionalism in evacuating the staff, saving the trapped, and heroic confrontation with the perpetrators are acts worthy of appreciation.”

The ministry concluded by expressing its condolences to the families of the victims; and wishing speed recovery for the injured.
