TRIPOLI – The General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) issued a statement on Wednesday in which it warned against attempts of illegal and unauthorized sale and transfer of the Libyan vessel Badr in Bulgaria.
“Attempts are being made for the illegal and unauthorized sale and transfer of the Libyan flagged vessel Badr, currently at the port of Burgas, Bulgaria,” reads the statement.
“Any transaction involving any change in the legal status of Badr vessel effected by any person other than its legitimate owners, Libyan Navigator Limited, is null and void.”
Badr vessel was seized in Bulgaria over a lawsuit against Libya. GNMTC said the Supreme Court in Burgas ruled in favor of releasing the vessel.
Despite the court order, Bulgarian coastguard authorities did not allow the vessel to sail back to Libya.
