Presidential Council condemns Traghan attack

TRAGHEN – The Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) issued a statement condemning today’s attack in the city of Traghan by Chadian militias.

The Presidential Council said it condemns “in the strongest terms the treacherous criminal attack carried out by gangs of mercenaries on Thursday and targeted a military site in the southern city of Tragan.”

The Council expressed its condolences it the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.

“This aggression is aimed at the security and stability of our country and is a violation of its sovereignty,” reads the statement which concludes,”terrorists, mercenaries and anyone who tries to tamper with the stability of our country must know that they will not escape punishment and will not find a safe place in Libya.”

The headquarters of the 10th Brigade in the city of Traghan was attacked by a Chadian opposition forces Thursday morning.

The Chadian forces that attacked the 10th Brigade in the city withdrew and went back to the desert.

The clashes between the forces of the 10th Brigade and the Chadian armed gangs led to one person killed and eleven wounded, according to the information office of the Hospital of Traghan.
