Administrative Control Authority rejects HCS interference in its work

TRIPOLI – Officials at the Administrative Control Authority issued a statement on Sunday condemning with they described as in their work by the High Council of State.

The Authority’s statement came following a decision by chairman of the Council, Khaled Al-Mishri, to appoint a new person to in charge of the Authority.

The Tripoli-based organization affirmed that Al-Mishri’s decision constitutes a violation of Libyan law which stipulates neutrality and independence of its work.

According to the statement, the Authority expressed its “total rejection of the appointment or assignment of any person to head the Administrative Control Authority outside the legal framework specified by political agreement, which stressed the need for consensus between the House of Representatives and the High Council of the State with respect to the appointment of officials into sovereign positions.”

The Authority concluded by warning that it will not hesitate to take any legal action.
