TRIPOLI – Foreign Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala, said in a media statement on Monday that his ministry is in contacted with international authorities to monitor the case of Libyan vessel ‘Badr’ seized in Bulgaria.
He also said that his ministry is in close contact with the General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) to follow the latest developments of the case.
Siala said that GNMTC has been making continuous efforts to follow the movement of Badr vessel to prevent it from being received by any port in the Black Sea. This comes following GNMTC warning of unauthorized sale of vessel Badr in Bulgaria.
Siala announced the success of these efforts in convincing the State of Panama to cancel the vessel’s new registration papers which are based on false information, pointing out that the ministry also has direct and official contact with the European Union and the United Nations on this regard.
Badr vessel was seized in Bulgaria over a lawsuit against Libya. GNMTC said the Supreme Court in Burgas ruled in favor of releasing the vessel.
Despite the court order, Bulgarian coastguard authorities did not allow the vessel to sail back to Libya.
