More than 57,000 asylum seekers and refugees registered with UNHCR in Libya, more than 2,800 evacuated

As of 31 December 2018, a total of 57,276 asylum seekers and refugees are registered with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Libya. A total of 3,584 individuals have been identified by UNHCR and its partners to be currently in one of the accessible Libyan detention centers, UNHCR reported on Monday.

Evacuation from Libya Since the start of the evacuation operation from Libya in late 2017, a total of 2,879 persons (including unaccompanied children) have been evacuated to Niger (2,202), Italy (415) and the ETC Romania (262), according to UNHCR.

There are 229 evacuated unaccompanied children remaining in Niger, UNHCR said.
