TRIPOLI – UNSMIL welcomes the freeing of 20 Libyans reportedly kidnapped by IS (Da’ash) from Fuqaha & Tazirbo, United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said on Tuesday.

This is another strong example that Libyans, when they join forces, can defeat terrorism & overcome the challenges and ordeals facing their country, according to UNSMIL.

Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Ahmed al-Mesmari, said Tuesday that clashes erupted late Monday between LNA forces, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, and IS militants in Ghadwua village, 70 kilometers (43 miles) from the southern city of Sabha.

It is noteworthy that at least 21 people were kidnapped from the towns of al-Fuqaha and Tazerbu last month; two of them managed to flee and reported the locations of the others.
