TRIPOLI – Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Ekaterina Zakharieva, expressed her country’s readiness to resolve the issue of Libyan vessel Badr which was seized in the port of Burgas.

Zakharieva’s remarks came during a meeting on Tuesday with Director of International Cooperation Department of the Tripoli-based Foreign Minister, Jamal Al-Baraq, according to a statement by the media office of the Tripoli-based ministry.

Al-Baraq presented Zakharieva with a letter from Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala.

Badr vessel was seized in Bulgaria over a lawsuit against Libya. The General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) said the Supreme Court in Burgas ruled in favor of releasing the vessel.

Despite the court order, Bulgarian coastguard authorities did not allow the vessel to sail back to Libya.
