VALLETTA – Prime Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, and Malta’s Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat, agreed during a joint meeting on Wednesday to resume direct flights between Libya and Malta before the end of the first quarter of the year.
According to a statement by GNA’s media office, the meeting also dealt with economic cooperation and combating human trafficking and fuel smuggling.
Al-Sarraj “asked the Maltese government to pay attention to the Libyan community in Malta and to provide them with the necessary support and facilities. He expressed his hope for a speedy return of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Malta to work from Tripoli,”
Al-Sarraj and his accompanying delegation arrived on Tuesday in Malta for talk with the country’s top officials.
