Libyan Observatory: GNA’s budget is legally flawed & will increase corruption

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The Libyan Observatory for the Defense of Right and Freedom expressed its deep dissatisfaction with having the general budget, estimated at 70 billion dollars, be approved outside the borders of the country and under the auspices of the World Bank, which it described as “infamous”.

In a statement, the Libyan Observatory considered this a dangerous legal precedent and a blatant infringement on the legislative authorities in Libya, which have the sole right to approve the budget of its own government.

The Libyan Observatory stated that adoption of this budget will contribute to the increase in the size of corruption and demanded to abandon the adoption and confront the state of economic dependence imposed on Libya which exacerbate the crisis.

The Libyan Observatory stated that it holds the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) responsible for not rejecting the adoption of this budget, which it considered legally flawed and waste of public money without regard.
