TRIPOLI – A delegation from Bani Walid, consisting of 25 sheikhs, arrived Sunday afternoon in Tripoli to seek an ending to the renewed clashes in south of the capital and broker a cease-fire between conflicting militias.
The delegation, which is headed by Sheikh Mohammed Barghouthi, is holding a meeting with Tripoli’s tribal elders at Bab al-Bahr Hotel to negotiate a possible truce.
On Wednesday morning, armed clashes broke out between militias funded by the Tripoli-based government; the so-called Tripoli Protection Force and the 7th Brigade in the Qasr Ben Ghashir area south of Tripoli.
