UNSMIL condemns killing of civilians, including journalist, in Tripoli clashes

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly condemns the killing of civilians in the Tripoli clashes, including the photojournalist Mohamed Ben Khalifa, whose death is sadly only the latest in the repeated attacks against Libya’s journalists, who pay the ultimate price serving the truth, UNSMIL said in a statement on Sunday.

The protection of civilians and the media remains paramount. UNSMIL reaffirms its commitment to push for all perpetrators to be held fully accountable. Direct & indirect attacks against civilians can constitute war crimes, UNSMIL added.
