British ambassador to Libya warns of “challenges” & affirms support for Skhirat agreement

TRIPOLI – Britain’s ambassador to Libya, Frank Baker, met on Sunday with Vice Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Ahmed Maiteeq, in Tripoli.

According to a statement by GNA’s media office, Baker warned that there are challenges that need the effort and sincerity of all parties in order to be addressed. The ambassador stressed that stressed that the political agreement, signed in Morocco’s Skhirat in 2015, is the right choice to resolve the Libyan crisis.

For his part, Maiteeq stressed on the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries and said he looks forward to the return of foreign companies to complete its stalled projects.
