SABHA – The Libyan National Army (LNA) announced yesterday the killing of al-Qaeda terrorist leader Adel Ahmad al-Abdali, known as Abu al-Zubair al-Libi, during a raid on a terrorist camp in Hijara neighborhood in Sabha.

An informed source revealed to The Address that al-Abdali was at his house with his mother, his wife and his daughter at the time of LNA’s operation.

Al-Abdali, who was wearing an explosive belt, began shooting against LNA’s units after they besieged his house.

After tightening the screws on him, he blew himself up with the explosive belt inside the house, killing his mother and daughter. His wife survived the suicide bombing and was taken to the hospital where she remains in intensive care.

The source affirmed that al-Abdali, who was born in Benghazi, is responsible for many terrorist operations and suicide attacks country-wide.

Al-Abdali previously joined al-Qaeda in Syria. He had been deported to Libya in 2004 and was imprisoned in Abu Salim prison in Tripoli, and after 2011, he became an active element, especially in the recruitment and transfer of terrorists between Syria and Libya.
