CAIRO – The Egyptian Army on Saturday killed eight militants in a desert area in the west of the country, adjacent to the border with Libya, the spokesman for the Egyptian army, Colonel Tamer Rifai, said in a statement.

“The operation was based on intelligence information confirmed in cooperation with the national security sector, according to the presence of a cell in the desert back area planning to carry out hostile acts,” Rifai added.
