BENGHAZI – The Democratic Civil Bloc, in collaboration with the Libyan International Medical University, plans to hold a ceremony in the memory of artist Ali Wakwak, who died in Italy following a heart attack at the beginning of the year at the age of 71.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, the celebration will be held at the main hall of the Libyan International Medical University in Benghazi. The Bloc confirmed that the event will be open to the public.

Ali Wakwak is one of the Libyan artists who has won several awards at local and international exhibitions. He was famous for his wood and metal sculptures, from which he created great works after the February 17 Uprising, where some of the works consisted of remnants of war.

The late artist was buried in an Islamic cemetery in Italy, while his family held a funeral in the city of hometown Al-Marj in Cyrenaica east of Libya.
