Facebook deletes accounts funded by Iran targeting Libya and other countries

The social networking network “Facebook” revealed what it has ended to a large-scale campaign originating in Iran targeting several countries, including four Maghreb countries.

The network noted in a statement that it had deleted 783 pages and a collection and user accounts linked to Iran targeting the public in Libya, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia through the publication of stories and news reports related to important topics in the Middle East and North Africa.

The statement added that the information security officers in Facebook have also deleted 262 pages with up to 2 million followers, 356 accounts, 3 groups of 1,600 members and 162 accounts on Instagram. They indicated that the amounts spent on all these pages, accounts and groups reached about 30 thousand dollars.
