The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Head of the Libyan Higher National Commission of Elections, Imad Al-Sayah, on Sunday confirmed that the commission is waiting for the House of Representatives to introduce amendments to the constitution referendum law in order to hold the poll.

“The commission is waiting for amendments to some articles of the referendum law by the parliament,” Al-Sayah told local TV, reiterating that the commission is ready to hold the referendum this year.

Al-Sayah also explained that holding the constitution referendum depends on government funding and proper security conditions.

In December last year, the commission announced that a referendum of a permanent constitution could be held before the end of February 2019.
