ADDIS ABABA – On the eve of the 32nd African Union (AU) summit, the high-level committee on Libya will meet today in Addis Ababa to discuss the process of stabilization of the country, aiming for a greater role of AU alongside the United Nations and Western countries.

“It is necessary that the special representative of the United Nations for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, cooperate more with us Africans,” AU’s Commissioner for Peace and Security, Smail Chergui, told Radio France Internationale (RFI).

Salamé had announced via Twitter his participation at the AU summit to discuss with “Libya’s neighbors ways to respect its sovereignty and stop interfering in its affairs. Africa can contribute a lot to the stability of Libya for the benefit of all.”
