Military operations in Derna conclude after eliminating last remaining terrorists

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

DERNA – Derna’s Security Directorate announced on Saturday evening the end of the military operations in the city and its liberation from terrorist groups.

This comes after the Libyan National Army (LNA) launched earlier this month a large attack on the remnants of the so-called Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna in its the last strongholds of the old city.

LNA announced on June last year the liberation of Darna from the terrorist groups after nearly 50 days of fighting against the ‘Shura Council’. However, remnants of the terrorist group entrenched in the old city and other areas until, on Saturday, LNA finally “closed the page of terrorism in the city”, as Derna’s Security Directorate put it.
