Body of Shura Council Spokesperson found in Derna

DERNA – The body of Spokesperson of the so-called Shura Council of Mujahideen in Derna, Mohamed Idris Taher, also known as Diska, was found in a house in Derna’s Old City neighborhood.

A picture circulating on social media showed Diska’s body in the rubble of a house in the old city.

Media supporting the Council confirmed the death of Diska and other prominent Shura Council leaders, including Mohammad Dango, whose was announced in June 2018, Mohammed al-Kharam, Mohammed al-Tishani, Abdul Aziz al-Jibani and Adnan al-Shaeri.

Some 46 people belonging to extremist groups surrendered to the Libyan National Army (LNA) forces in the presence of the Red Crescent in Derna, after being surrounded on a “ground floor” in a house in the Old City neighborhood.

According to identical sources, among those who surrendered themselves were fighters, wounded, women and children.

The sources added that among those who surrendered themselves, the leader in the Council, Hafid al-Hasadi, known as Abu Ayoub.
