BAMAKO – The Ministry of Malians Abroad and African Integration (MMEIA), in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), repatriated 156 Malians from Libya to Mali on Tuesday.

According to Moussa Aliou Koné, chief of staff of the MMEIA, in total, they were 163 migrants registered at the embassy of Mali in Tripoli, but 156 people have accepted to board and the other seven refused to return to Mali.

“There are people among them who may be in debt and others who have nothing. So, they are ashamed to come back empty-handed. So, they prefer to stay in trouble in Libya, “explained the chief of staff.
