Over 170,000 IDPs, 56,000 registered refugees, asylum seekers in Libya: UNHCR

LIBYA – 170,490 Libyans currently internally displaced (IDPs) and 56,455 registered refugees and asylum seekers in the State of Libya, The United Nationa High Commissioner for Refugees said in a report.
445,845 returned IDPs (returns registered in 2016 – 2018), the report said.
1,494 monitoring visits to detention centres in 2018 and 2019. 3,041 asylum-seekers and refugees released from detention in 2018 and 2019, according to UNHCR.
3,175 vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers evacuated since November 2017; 215 overall persons arrived in Italy, the UN refugee agency added.
