Tripoli-based CBL announces new ‘plastic banknote’

TRIPOLI – The Tripoli-based Central Bank of Libya (CBL) yesterday announced the new version of the cash currency Category 1 Dinar.

It was during a ceremony held by the bank at its headquarters in the capital Tripoli, during which its Governor, Sadiq al-Kabir, announced the start of the second edition of the new currency.

Al-Kabir mentioned that Libya is one of the first countries to start dealing with plastic paper currency from 20 countries in the world. He also confirmed that the currency currently circulating in the dinar category would be gradually withdrawn from circulation.
