Aguila Saleh denounces remarks made by Erdogan’s envoy to Libya

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TOBRUK – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, denounced in a statement on Wednesday the remarks made by Emrullah Işler, the special envoy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Libya.

Işler had criticized the military operation conducted by the Libyan National Army (LNA) to liberate the southern region from terrorist militias and Chadian armed gangs.

Saleh described Işler’s remarks as an “interference in Libyan internal affairs” and “an attack on Libya’s sovereignty”. He said that these remarks are part of “the unfortunate role played by Turkey in undermining the resolving of the crisis in Libya,”

Saleh pointed out that Turkey has long been a supporter of extremist and terrorist groups by providing them with material and logistical support. He also referred to the arms shipments seized by Greek and Libyan authorities. Turkey intended to send these shipments to terrorist groups which used them to carry out assassinations and terrorist attacks.

The Speaker of the House called on Turkey to “change its position and stand by the Libyan people instead of supporting terrorism and extremism and undermine the security in Libya,”
