The Address | Benghazi – Libya
ROME – Italy’s Foreign Minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, said on Wednesday that his country intends to “dialogue with all the interlocutors of the Libyan framework”, something which he described as “extremely jagged”.
Speaking during an event at the Italian university of LUISS Guido Carli, Milanesi affirmed that the stabilization of Libya is “the indispensable premise for then holding elections that are recognizable and valid by the international community.” He added that Italy now sees signs of that stabilization.
Milanesi pointed out that Italy’s ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, has been holding talks with Libyan officials in the west and east of the country.
Milanesi said that General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, reiterated his willingness to work together to pacify the country during his meeting with Grimaldi last Tuesday.
