SHARM EL SHEIKH – Italy’s Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, reiterated on Sunday his country’s support for Libya in the stabilization process, stressing that this process “can no longer be slowed down”.

This comes following his meeting with Prime Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, in the margins of the first Arab League-European Union summit in Egypt.

“We must continue to support Libya in the stabilization process, in the wake of the UN and in the wake of the Palermo Conference. This process can no longer be slowed down. A stable Libya is a goal that the entire international community must have at heart,” the Italian premier stated via Twitter.

According to GNA’s media office, Conte and Al-Sarraj discussed political developments in Libya, joint security and economic cooperation as well as joint coordination with regard to illegal migration and human trafficking.
