The Address | Benghazi – Libya
SHARM EL SHEIKH – Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel, said on Monday that the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) is “still a long way from being able to take control of Libya”.
Merkel met with GNA’s Prime Minister, Fayez Al-Sarraj, on Monday before she spoke to the press later that day.
Merkel described the meeting with Al-Sarraj as a “progress”. However, she said that there are “many, many abuses” taking place inside Libya, therefore she and Al-Sarraj mainly discussed providing “the refugees, but also the people in Libya” with a “reasonable and acceptable life”.
