Russian UN Ambassador: Libya becomes a base for terrorists in the Middle East

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

NEW YORK – Libya is becoming a platform for the activities of terrorists in the Middle East, denounced the Russian ambassador to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenzia, on Wednesday.

“The countries of the region are returning terrorists from Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and Libya becomes a platform for their activities,” he said during open debates on arms trafficking in Africa.

Nebenzia stressed the need to “consolidate efforts to thwart the growing terrorist activities in Africa.”

He added that Russia supports the intention of the African Union to increase its participation in the Libyan solution, “including by organizing together with the UN an international conference for reconciliation in that country.”
