The Address | Benghazi – Libya
ROME – Interior Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, on Thursday attended a meeting in Italy with international diplomats to discuss the security situation in Libya.
The meeting, which took place at Italy’s Foreign Ministry (Farnesina), was chaired by Dirctor of Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security of Italy Foreign Ministry, Sebastiano Cardi.
Interlocutors included Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Williams, Italy’s ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, and a number of other foreign ambassadors.
According to a statement by GNA’s Interior Ministry, Bashagha reviewed the work of his ministry and the requirements that it needs to combat terrorism, extremism and outlaws.
Bashagha said that “doors are open” for all countries to assist in providing the logistical and technical needs of his ministry.
