The Address | Benghazi – Libya

BERLIN – Germany’s Foreign Minister issued a statement on Friday in which it welcomed the meeting between General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, which took place on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.

Germany called for “more serious commitment to a political solution within the framework of the United Nations action plan.”

“The Libyan people have been waiting too long for key Libyan actors to agree on concrete progress towards stabilizing the situation and making free and fair elections.” reads the statement.

“Germany remains ready to support Libya as a long-term partner on its difficult path to peace and stability.”
