Milanesi & GNA’s Vice Premier discuss recent developments in Libya

ROME – Italy’s Foreign Minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, met on Tuesday with Vice President of the Presidential Council of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Ahmed Maiteeq, in the headquarters of the Italian Foreign Ministry (Farnesina) in Rome

According to a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry, the meeting “offered the opportunity to examine how Libya’s stabilization process was progressing in the light of recent developments.” In a reference to last week’s meeting between Head of GNA, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in Abu Dhabi.

“Minister Moavero specifically asked Deputy Prime Minister Maiteeq  for an update on the actions taken by Libya to ensure greater security in the territory, to improve the general economic situation, to better manage migration flows in transit and to assure migrants in Libya are given the required dignified reception in full respect of fundamental human rights.”
