TRIPOLI – Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport reopened on Saturday night after a brief closure due to an unidentified drone flying in the area.

Mitiga International Airport announced yesterday that the airport was closed due to the presence of the unidentified drone which could endanger the safety of civil airplanes that are either taking off or landing at the airport.

Three hours later, the airport announced that flights were resumed.

Residents have repeatedly spotted drones flying over Tripoli in the past few days but the reason is not clear.
