TRIPOLI – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) released a statement on Monday warning against reports aimed at “disrupting” the upcoming national conference (Al-Multaqa Al-Watani) .

“UNMSIL urges all Libyans to ignore such reports that aim at, deliberately or unintentionally, disrupting the relentless and sincere efforts to bring Libyans together around a consensual view to end the political impasse and move forward toward building a strong, capable and effective state.” reads the statement.

UNSMIL reaffirmed that all reliable news about its work and activities “are first announced by the Mission itself through its Head and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, or through its Media Office, via press releases or statements published on the UNSMIL’s official website or its official social media accounts.”

In a similar context, Salamé revealed a televised interview on Sunday that the national conference will be held in less than a month, adding that he will announce the date of the national conference “within days”.
