Tripoli CBL issues first polymer banknotes

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – The branch of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) based in Tripoli has launched its first polymer banknote, one of the first to be put into circulation in the Middle East.

Libya has two central banks as a result of the civil war that followed 2014 parliamentary elections.

UK-based banknote-printing firm De La Rue has been chosen to supply the substrate for the one dinar note, which will enter circulation later this year.
