HoR Finance Committee and Belgian Parliament discuss Libya’s frozen funds in Belgium

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

The Finance Committee of the Belgian Parliament met with a delegation of the Finance Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives to discuss developments in the issue of frozen Libyan funds and their release without coordination or contact with the elected Libyan legislator.

The Libyan Address Journal correspondent confirmed that a number of EU experts who were expected to be included in the meeting declined to attend.

The Libyan parliament’s recent session has witnessed a heated debate over the status of frozen Libyan funds in Belgium and their release by the Belgian authorities, despite the Security Council resolutions to freeze them since 2011.

On Friday, Libyan members of the House of Representatives testified before the Finance Committee of Belgian parliament over the case of Libya’s frozen funds in Belgian banks.
