The Address | Benghazi – Libya
TRIPOLI – Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, met on Monday with France’s Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, in Tripoli.
The meeting, which took place at GNA’s headquarters, was attended by France’s ambassador to Libya, Béatrice le Fraper du Hellen, and officials from both sides.
According to a statement by GNA’s media office, Al-Sarraj and Le Drian discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments in Libya. Al-Sarraj briefing the minister on his last meeting with General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in Abu Dhabi.
For his part, Le Drian affirmed his country’s support for a political solution to the Libyan crisis, while stressing on the importance of the United Nations peace plan regarding unification of Libya’s state institutions and elections.
