The Address | Benghazi – Libya
ANKARA – Head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, arrived Wednesday night in Turkey where he met with the country’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to a statement by GNA’s media office, Al-Sarraj and Erdoğan discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in Libya.
Al-Sarraj told Erdoğan that the “current state of division” in Libya can not continue and that everyone must “realize that the return of stability depends on consensus”.
Erdoğan said that he “supports the democratic process in Libya” and that his country “stands with the Libyan people’s choice.”
Al-Sarraj’s visit to Turkey came shortly after the United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salamé, announced on Wednesday afternoon that the National Conference will be held between 14 and 16 April in the city of Ghadames.
