UNHCR: Over 57,000 asylum seekers and refugees registered with UNHCR in Libya

LIBYA – As of 2 April 2019, a total of 57,678 asylum seekers and refugees are registered with UNHCR in Libya, UN High Commissioner for Refugges (UNHCR) said in a report Tuesday.

A total of 4,543 individuals have been identified by UNHCR and its partners to be currently in one of the accessible Libyan detention centers, UNHCR said.

Since the start of the evacuation operation from Libya in late 2017, a total of 3,303 persons (including unaccompanied children) have been evacuated to Niger (2,619), Italy (415) and the ETC Romania (269).

There are 147 evacuated unaccompanied children remaining in Niger, according to the UN refugee agency.
